第三部分 阅读理解(共两节,满分40分)

第一节 (共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)

阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。

A

It’s taken me a while to learn that friendship can be found closer than you think, even in your own home. Growing up, I knew I always had great friend in my brother. Besides the biological connection we share, there’s the common ground and shared history that has kept my brother and me together.

My brother and I have a tradition of never letting the other forget the things that “accidentally” happened between us during our childhood. My “accidents” sometimes included “accidentally” driving him around the house with a golf club in my hand, swinging wildly.

My favorite memory is the time my brother threw a dart (飞镖) at the dartboard while I happened to be standing in front of it collecting the darts. I remember how he stood there, half-horrified, half-smiling, watching the dart falling in my bare back.

He also threw a toy truck at my knees when I was about four years old. To make matters worse, my dad decided he would make it a Kodak moment. Instead of making sure my brother stopped what he was doing, he pulled out the camera and took a picture. Neither of them feels any shame for this. They also framed the picture and it still hangs in our kitchen.

Another time that sticks in my mind is comforting. One night we were staying at my aunt’s house and I was really sad about something. I just remember crying and crying in my brother’s arms when we were trying to go to bed. I don’t even remember what I was so sad about; the important thing is that I have this memory of knowing he was there for me and feeling comforted by him. In looking back, it is nice to know that two brothers could share that kind of emotion with each other without even thinking about it. Society tells guys not to show emotion, but that didn’t stop us. We were so innocent(天真). I love that memory.

56. The passage mainly tells the readers about_____.

A. wrongs done to him by his brother B. friendship between him and his brother

C. his father’s unfair attitude to him D. his interesting experiences in his childhood

57. When he complained about his father and brother, the writer _____.

A. really hated them B. was not really angry

C. was excited D. was disappointed

58. The only pleasant feeling the writer mentioned in the passage was _____.

A. when chasing his brother with a golf club in his hand

B. when his brother hurt him with a falling dart

C. when his father took a picture for him

D. when he was companied by his brother at his aunt’s house

59. The underlined word “accidentally” in this passage really means ____.

A. on condition B. by chance C. in case D. on purpose

B

Louis Armstrong had two famous nicknames. Some people called him Bagamo. They said his mouth looked like a large bag. Musicians often called him Pops, as a sign of respect for his influence on the world of music.

Born in 1901in New Orleans, he grew up poor, but lived among great musicians. Jazz was invented in the city a few years before his birth. Armstrong often said, “Jazz and I grew up together.”

Armstrong had a great gift for music when he was taught to play the cornet(短号) at a boy’s home. In his late teens, Armstrong began to live the life of a musician. He played in parades, clubs, and on the steamboats that travelled on the Mississippi River. At that time, New Orleans was famous for the new music of jazz and was home to many great musicians. Armstrong learned from the older musicians and soon became respected as their equal.
