It’s not easy for us to forgive(原谅) someone who has ever hurt you or made you disappointed. H 86 , several new studies say that it could be good for your health. When you think of forgiveness, you probably don’t think of it as a healthy or medical problem. On the other hand, studies p 87 that something like anger can change your well-being(身心状况).

When cartoon characters like the Incredible Hulk get angry, they change colors and often get special power. In the real w 88 , anger is less obvious. Scientists say anger can be harmful to your physical and mental health. Two new studies seem to show the s 89 idea. The studies find that people who are able to forgive feel less stress, less back pain, and less depression.

They also have fewer headaches, l 90 blood pressure(血压), and fewer problems on sleeping. So it doesn’t m 91 if your anger is caused by the traffic or other things. Learning to let it go is important. Ways such as d 92 breath can help you a lot, or just ask yourself if it’s worth hurting yourself by staying angry with someone else. Forgiveness does not mean that you simply accept what happened and say it’s OK. Instead, it’s a way of making peace with yourself about what happened in the past.

D. Answer the questions(根据短文内容回答下列问题) ( 12)

Nowadays people are making themselves beautiful in Korean ways.

“Thank goodness you have doubleeyelids(双眼皮). Your parents will save a lot of money,” said a family friend when I was five years old. Double eyelids, which almost all the white people have, are rare among Northeast Asians. Only 25% of South Koreans are born with double eyelids.

I never quite understood how having double eyelids saved my parents money until that summer when I came back to Seoul. Everywhere I noticed cosmetic surgery clinics(整形诊所) and advertisements with South Korean women ---tall, thin, with milky skin, long legs, nice big eyes and perfect noses. I found that South Korean beauty meant looking as “white” as possible.

Cosmetic surgery has a kind of magical attraction to women---the promise of beauty. Women are often sure that suffering and sacrificing(牺牲)is necessary and worthy in order to be beautiful. This suffering is not for nothing. It is believed that beauty leads to attracting a better-looking partner, which then leads to a better-looking child and a better life.

Appearance is starting to play a bigger role in work places. For example, my 29-year-old brother, who is slim and very tall, gets more job chances than his best friend, who is shorter and heavier, though both of them came from the same college, had the same good marks in their studies. In fact, many South Koreans believe that physical beauty equals happiness.

93. How many South Koreans are born with double eyelids?

____________________________________________________________.

94. There are many cosmetic surgery clinics in Seoul, aren’t there?

_______, ____________________________________________________.

95. When did the writer understand having eyelids saved his parents money?

____________________________________________________________.

96. Why do so many women want to have cosmetic surgery?

____________________________________________________________.

97. What do many South Koreans believe?

They believe _________________________________________________.

98. What do you think of true beauty?

____________________________________________________________.
