Good afternoon! Ladies and gentlemen. It’s really my pleasure to interpret my lesson plan today. The lesson plan I am going to talk about is from Unit3 Reading of A taste of English humor, which is taken from New Senior English for China Module 4. Now allow me to introduce the first part:

Ⅰ. Analysis of the teaching materials:

1.      The importance of this lesson

This lesson is a reading passage. It plays a very important role in English teaching of this unit because we should lay particular emphasis on the students’ reading ability in senior English teaching.

2.      Teaching contents

1.)    get the students to learn some basic knowledge about humour and a famous master of nonverbal homour ——Charlie Chaplin.

2.)    get the students to comprehend the passage better through Task—based learning and Cooperative learning.

3.)    Through teaching, the students can learn the optimism and strong determination.from Charlie.

3.      The important and difficult points in this lesson:

1.)    some knowledge about homour and Charlie.

2.)    to improve the students’ reading ability in predicting, skimming and summarizing..

3.)    get the students to master some new words and expressions.

Ⅱ. Teaching aims:

1.      Knowledge aim: by the end of the lesson, students will have a better understanding of the meaning and structure of the text.

2.      Ability aims:

1)Get the students to analyze the personality of Charlie Chaplin and learn from him.

2)improve the reading skills and use English to express one’s ideas

3.      Moral education aims:  learn the optimism ,kindness and determination of Charlie

Ⅲ. Analysis of the teaching theories and methods:

Communicative approach and Computer-Assisted Instruction are to be use in

the course of this lesson. And I will try my best to limit Teacher Talking

Time and increase STT (Student Talking Time).So during this lesson, emphases are to be laid on:

1.     Student-centered teaching

2.     Task-based learning

3.     Activity-based teaching (individual work; pair work; group work; class work

Since it is a reading passage, it is very important to develop the students’ reading ability. I’ll use some reading methods such as preparation for reading, (lead-in) scanning, skimming and intensive reading. In class, I’ll try to use encouraging and polite remarks such as “Do you want a go?” “volunteers” “Well done!” “You did a good job!” “Thanks!” and so on. I’ll get the students to have a competition to develop their quick response. I’ll make full use of modern equipment ——the multi-media to make the class more lively and interesting.

Ⅳ. Analysis of the students:

The students are in Grade 1. They are still at an age when they would like to have competition with others. They have known something about humour and Charlie Chaplin. But some long sentences are difficult for them to understand. So I will help the students in different levels to learn English.

Ⅴ. Analysis of the teaching process:

Now come to the most important part

Step1. Lead-in:

1) show some pictures of Charlie Chaplin

2)play a short video about Charlie eating his shoe.

My purpose here is to let the Ss know what we are going to read.

Step2. While reading:

1.  Fast reading: scanning & skimming

1)          let them complete the notes about Charlie Chaplin using the information in the passage.
