A window is more than just an opening that you can see through. It can affect(影响)the way a building looks, how much energy a building USES and even

how you feel.

Scientists are now working on ncw technologies to create“smart windows”. Unlike normal windows,high-tech smart windows can change from clear to dark and back again with the touch of a button(按钮)--or even automatically(自动地)as the outside light changes.

Smart windows have the power to make the world a cleaner and more comfortable place. Instead of turning on air conditioners(空调),people could simply dim the windows in a building’s empty rooms. With the rooms less bright, they would stay cool, and people would save energy and money at the same time.

That’s why smart windows are so exciting. Says Claes Granqvist. He’s a professor of physics at Uppsala University in Sweden. If you think that you don’t care much about windows, you should think again,Granqvist says. Most people who live in developed

countries spend about 90% of their time inside buildings and cars. You might spend even more time than that indoors during the winter if you live in a cold climate.

Imagine then what it would be like if there were no windows. You’d have no idea what’s going on outside. So,the light of the nature is important for improving the way people feel when they stay indoors. The development of smart windows could mean that a lot of air-conditioning systems may no longer be needed. “In the future,” Granqvist says “our buildings may look different.”

64.About the smart windows.which of the following is NOT true?

B.windows are not only openings that you can see through

C.the character of a building is connected to its windows

D.natural light:makes people feel better when they stay indoors.

Many teenagers(青少年) feel that the most important people in their lives are their friends. They believe that their family members don't know them as well as their friends do. In large families, it is quite often for brothers and sisters to fight with each other and then they can only go to their friends for some ideas.

It is very important for teenagers to have one good friend or a group of friends. Even when they are not with their friends, they usually spend a lot of time talking among themselves on the phone. However, parents often try to choose their children's friends for them. Some parents may even stop their children from meeting their good friends. Have you ever thought of the following questions?

Lay low on debt.

If you plan to “fly now and pay later,” make sure that you have enough money to make up for months you’ll spend paying, paying and paying. It is better to plan a shorter family vacation that is closer to home, or a less expensive vacation than be in debt for months.

Camping is an excellent low-cost vacation, however, if that is not your idea of fun, visiting a state or national park or the beach can also be relaxing and inexpensive.

Leave some time for exercise.

You can easily gain two to five pounds or more in a “good-eating ”vacation. Leaving some time for exercise is a good way to avoid going on a diet. In addition, children need exercise to burn up energy.

Return home in time to get ready for work again without a stressful rush.

Vacations can be as stressful as work, especially when you return just before work starts. If your flight is canceled because of the weather, you will be more stressed out than you were when you left.

Leave one day for sleeping in, unpacking, resting, and enjoying time with your children at home before returning to work.

Avoid most begging for money by setting an amount of money a child can spend for one trip, or one day.

After you have set an amount, let the children choose how to spend it. One will spend it all on snacks, another will buy something, and another will arrive home with a nice saving account!

You must adapt your family vacation to the age and interests of your children. However, remember that they normally have energetic, enthusiastic outlook on life, at least until the teen years which makes a relaxing and entertaining family vacation easy to plan.

72.The underlined part in the 1st paragraph means__________.

A.gain weight B.cut down on the living costs

C.control your weight D.use up more energy

74.The reason why the writer suggests leaving one day before going to work again is

that_________.

A.it will help you be ready for work and avoid a stressful rush

B.by doing so you can avoid accidents

C.you will have enough time to do some homework

D.you can reduce your stress

75. Which of the following is not what parents do according to the passage?
