He trained for five years说课稿Hello, everyone, it’s my honor to stand here and interpret my lesson.. The lesson plan I’m going to talk about is from NSEFC Book 2 Module 12 Unit 2 He train for 5 years, I’ll explain how to teach and why do about this from the 4 aspects: Understanding the teaching material, Teaching methods and studying ways, teaching procedure, Blackboard design.

Type of the lesson: Reading comprehension

ⅠUnderstanding the teaching material

My understanding of the teaching material includes 3 parts: the status and functions, teaching aims, the important points and difficult points.

First, I will focus on the status and the functions. This text is a newspaper article. This unit is mainly talk about the newspaper article, so I will teach my students how to read a newspaper article, and the form of a newspaper article including. So my students will be more easily understand the text and find out the main idea. In this lesson, Yang Liwei is the main character of the text; it’s not difficult for my students to understand the text. So fist, it’s a good material to train my students reading ability of getting the key words and the main idea in the text. It’s also a good material to cultivate my student’s excellent qualities; they can learn many form Yang Liwei. Second, there are many good phrases and expressions in the text which can be master by my students, so after reading, I will embody the usage of the new words and phrases, and get the students understand the difficult sentences. What I do about this is to make the teaching procedure clearer and more purposeful, so my students will be benefit a lot and learn more effectively.

That’s all for the first part, now let’s move to the second part. According to teaching material and The New Curriculum of English, in order to fulfill the learning task of the lesson, I made the following aims:

⑴Knowledge aims: By the end of the lesson, ①enable the students to know more about Yang Liwei and understand the structure of the text clearly.②enable the students to know the four parts of a newspaper article. ③enable the students master the new words and the new phrases, for example: astronaut, Earth, space, national flag, Spacecraft, wave. What I arrange these aims are to make my students know where the knowledge points is and which part they should master, it’s good for my students to lay solid foundation for the future study.

⑵Ability aims: ①to develop the students ability of getting the key words and the main idea by using the reading ability of skimming and scanning. ②to develop the students ability of making comments on Yang Liwei .The reason why I arrange these aims are to develop my students reading ability of skimming and scanning, and teach them how to analysis and solve the problems individually in their daily life. What’ more, they will know how to cooperate in their future study. I think it’s very important to them.

⑶Moral aims: ①to motivate the students’ enterprising and persistent spirits.②to train the students patriotic feeling. Because moral teaching is also an important part in learning, students are not only learning knowledge at school, but also learn how to train their qualities. What I arrange these aims are to improve my students moral realization, so I want my students to have the awareness of love our country and make contributions for our country in the future.

Well, so much for the teaching aims, let’s come to deal with the third part: the important points and difficult points.

According to the national curriculum of English and language learning theory, when teaching reading, we should encourage the students to do speed reading for the first time, that’s to say, we should encourage the students to read as fast as they can when they do the first reading, so much emphasis should be put on reading skills and reading compression as well.

The important points are: ①the improvement of reading ability of getting the key words and the main idea by using the skill of scanning and skimming. ②the way of commenting on Yang Liwei.

The difficult points are: the way of making comments on Yang Liwei.

ⅡAnalysis of the students ,teaching methods and studying ways

That’s all for my understanding of the teaching material, now I want to talk about my students. My students are junior students, Grade 1. In their heart, they are eager to know more fresh and interesting events and characters. Though my students are top students and very active in the lesson, they are beginners. To reading, they are not familiar with the skills of scanning and skimming, so I will teach them how to skimming and scanning effectively, and I will teach my students phrase by phrase , rather than word by word; when reading, please concentrate on the important bits, skim the rest, and skip the insignificant parts. So they need to do more exercise to improve their reading ability. More importantly, they need to learn how to make comments on somebody. What I do about this is to make my teaching methods more clear and more accurate, let my students learn more effectively and let my teaching activity move more smoothly.

Next, it’s my teaching methods:

Task-based Instruction Approach and Top-down model will be used in my lesson. As for Task-based Instruction Approach, we know it’s the further development of Communicative Language Teaching; it’s an effective way to train my student’s capability to communicate in English, analysis and solve problems independently in our daily life. As far as Top-down model, I firmly believe that background information can assist my students’ comprehension, so I will introduce the background information and pictures to my students, in order to raise their interest. Dose my students know enough background information about Yang Liwei and Shenzhen 5, the key is that their interest in learning the new text will be motivated effectively at the beginning.

That’s my teaching methods; now let’s move tothe studying ways. Students will learn through independent reading, discussing and cooperating. Last is the teaching aid: multimedia and blackboard will be needed. Because teaching aids can provide visual clues to the students, and it is lively, so the students’ interest will be motivated, they will be more interested in the new material.

ⅢTeaching procedure

Here comes to the most important part ,the teaching procedure, it includes 4 steps: stepⅠWarming up and pre-reading, stepⅡWhile-reading, stepⅢPost-reading, stepⅣConsolidation and Homework

StepⅠWarming up and pre-reading (about 14 minutes)

Warming up   (about 3 minutes)

I will ask my students 2 questions: “Do you know some heroes in China?”,

“Why they are called heroes?” and “what contributions do they make for our country?” Here, as the students get familiar with many Chinese great people, so it’s easy to attract my students’ attention to the new material.

Pre-reading   (about 11 minutes)

I will arrange 2 activities to my students.

Activity 1: predicting (about 3 minutes)

I will show 3 pictures in the textbook, and then ask students to predict what we are going to talk about based on the title and the pictures. We know predicting is an important reading skill, the students’ predicting, whether right or wrong, will get his mind closer to the theme of the text to be read; what’s more, good titles always contain the most important information of a written text. So reading with predicting can make reading more purposeful and therefore is likely to result in better comprehension. What’s more, it can exert the students’ imagination.

Activity 2: Getting the main idea   (about 8 minutes)

First of all, I will teach my students how to slimming. Because the text is a newspaper article; generally, the main idea is the first sentence or the last sentence, but sometimes you should summarize by yourself. So I will teach my students read phrase by phrase, rather words by words. What’s more, t will teach my students concentrate on the important bits, skim the rest and skip the insignificant parts. Before reading, I will provide 4 key words to my students, that is: “The headline, the latest news, the background, Today”. This is the common form of a newspaper article, and students can follow the sequence to find out these 4 parts. After fast reading, students are required to match the key words to each paragraph, and then I will provide 4 statements and one of them is the main idea, and students can choose the right answer in the statement. Because my students are beginners, these methods lowering the difficulty in getting the main idea, and my students will more confident and happier to learn the new text, and the reading ability of skimming will be trained well. What’s more, teach my students know the four parts of the newspaper article can make them know the structure of the text better; it can help them understand the text better.

StepⅡWhile-reading   (about 17 minutes)

While-reading is the main part and it will take 16 minutes. I will arrange 2 tasks in this step.

Task 1:put T or F on each statement   (about 7 minutes)

(T) ②Yang Liwei was called China’s first astronaut.

(F) ③The space flight lasted 18 hours.

(T) ④The Shenzhou 5 landed in Inner Mongolia.

From these 2 tasks, we know scanning is an important reading skill which should be stressed for my students, in this step; I will focus on the ability of scanning. So it’s a good skill for my students to get the detailed information. What’s more, it can deepen my students’ understanding of the text, and my students can learn many useful phrases, it’s good for their future study.

Task 3: Guess the meaning of the new words   (about 5 minutes)

After learning the whole text, I will guide my students find out the new words quickly, and then guess the meaning of these new words. Because the new words are the basis, I can check whether my students understand the text or not. Can they guess the meaning of the news words after learning the text? It’s good for them to lay a solid foundation for their future study. It’s very important for them to master the new words.

We know getting the key words is one of the important reading skills which can help the students understand the text clearly. So it’s good for my students to consolidate their reading skill—scanning. During the process, I can help the students get familiar with the new words and the language points. In a word, after learning the whole text, my students will benefit a lot form my teaching and learning procedure. First, they will get familiar with the language points; second, they will get familiar with the whole text of the main idea; third, they will get familiar with the form of a newspaper article.

StepⅢ Post-reading (about 9 minutes)

In this step, I will ask my students to make comments on Yang Liwei, so group discussion will be used, they can share opinions together. I will raise a question to guide my students making right comments on Yang Liwei: what can you learn form Yang Liwei. After discussion, I will give them an example. It can motivate my students to think and help them make right comments on Yang Liwei. Last I will show a proverb to my students: Where there is a will, there is a way. Because I want to give opportunities to my students to talk about what they feel and what they have learnt after learning the whole text. It will encourage my students to work hard in their study and more brave in their lives.

StepⅣ Consolidation and Homework (about 5 minutes)

After dealing with the detailed information of each paragraph, I will ask my students to read the passage again and answer two questions to consolidate what they have learnt today. The two questions are “What can you learn form Yang Liwei?” and “What you should do if you want to be an astronaut?” Because I want to check whether my students understand the text or not. In order to consolidate their memory. And then I will give a brief conclusion. Because conclusion can help my students have a structure in their mind, it’s good for them to make their knowledge systematic and keep the main part of the lesson in heart.

Homework:

Finish the exercise on page 130, part 10。Reading

Because the text is a reading material, I want to consolidate my students’ reading ability of skimming and scanning, and my students need to do more exercise to improve their reading skill. So the homework is a good material to exercise, it’s good for them to improve their reading skills.

What I arrange this layout is to show the important points to my students, so that they can see clearly and know the important parts in this class. It’s good for them to master the important knowledge.

ⅤExpectation for the lesson

Now let’s come to the expectation for the lesson. First, I will teach my students some knowledge points, they will master these words during the reading process. Second, I will train their reading ability of skimming and scanning. Third, the way of making comments on Yang Liwei, and my students will be very active in this step. In a word, my students will benefit a lot from my lesson. Though they may have some difficulty in making comments and getting the main idea, I will try to take some measures to lower the difficulty and help them solve the problems, such as I will give them a brainstorm and show an example to guide them. My students will learn more effectively. So it goes without doubt that my lesson is successful. That’s all for my interpretation, thank you for your listening.
