1. Greet the whole class as usual. 2. Introduce the tasks in this period. Step 2 Lead-in

1. Students listen to a song and then answer the following questions shown on the screen:

(1) Do you know the name of this song?

(2) On what special occasion do we sing this song?

2. Check the answer as a class, thus leading into today’s topic Step 3 Pre-reading

1. Show today’s learning objectives on the screen.

2. Ask the students if they know the origin of Christmas. If they don’t know, tell them and then ask:

When talking about Christmas, what can you think of?

3. Get the students to answer the question above as a class. Maybe they don’t know the exact English name for those things associated with Christmas. Draw their attention to the Key Words in Exercise 1 and then check the meaning of these words by pictures shown on the screen.
