7.A new school is said to be built on ________ is considered to be the best place for farming.

“... ________ is considered to be the best place for farming.”

8.________(disturb) news came ________ an unknown disease was spreading in the area.

“________ an unknown disease was spreading in the area”为同位语从句,用that来引导。

People can't survive without food. Long ago, early people couldn't grow crops, so they had to live by hunting animals and gathering grains. After a tribe(部落) had lived in an area for some time, its food supply would begin to reduce. Then the tribe had to move to new hunting grounds where there was more food.

This way of life caused special problems for the tribes. They were forced to depend on luck, as well as on their hunting skills. If they could find no game,_the whole tribe would be in danger of starving. And when the hunters had good luck one day, they were not sure to find game the next time. The tribes moved often because much land was needed to support their people.

As time passed by, people learned that they could grow their food. At first, the women of tribes collected patches of wild grain. Later, people discovered that they could plant their own seeds. Farming slowly became a way of life.

As people turned away from hunting to farming, their life changed. When the food supply became richer and richer, they no longer moved from place to place. The success of their crops depended partly on the weather, but there were also things they could do to help crops grow.

In the past, a tribe had to travel many miles for food. Now, only a small amount of land was necessary to feed the whole tribe. The early tribe could grow in size because farming provided a way to feed people.

A.They enjoyed traveling around.

B.They had to find enough food.

2.The underlined word “game” in Paragraph 2 probably means ________.

They were forced to depend on luck, as well as on their hunting skills. If they could find no game, the whole tribe would be in danger of starving.

A.the women didn't do any work at all

1.A.lowly B.highly

C.little D.greatly

think highly of看重……。

2.A.wellknown B.beautiful

C. important D.skillful

答案:A 逻辑推理题,从第三段中的“Sorry,if you had graduated from Peking University,we would take you on.”

3.A.greater B.less

C.fewer D.more

4.A.accept B.find

C.change D.follow

5.A.study B.understand

C.change D.follow

6.A.need B.wish

C.expect D.hope

7.A.teacher B.graduate

C.parent D.professor

从后文“Which university did you graduate from?When the graduate...”

8.A.held B.built

C.had D.offered

9.A.give B.share

C.let D.hand

give in意思是“屈服,投降”;share in意思是“分担”;let in意思是“让……

10.A.time B.turn

C.chance D.interview

由前文的He joined a queue...

11.A.address B.telephone

C.name D.number

从后文“What?I've never heard of that university.”

12.A.with B.away

C.up D.without

13.A.books B.subjects

C.request D.knowledge

14.A.pity B.surprised

C.angry D.sorry

15.A.really B.certainly

C.finally D.proudly

16.A.or B.and

C.but D.so

17.A.much B.some

C.many D.most

18.A.explain B.mean

C.say D.translate

some students并不能代表all of us。

19.A.practical B.popular

C.lucky D.sure

“...we are going to try to do as well as those from key universities.”

20.A.impress B.warn

C.prove D.disappoint
