Step 1 Review (时间:8分钟)

1.check the homework. Join the sentences given last class with “that”, “which”, “whose”, “who” or “whom” to form attributive clauses.

2.Look at the picture. Lead the new lesson.

Step 2 Presentation (时间:10分钟)

1.Look at the picture. And listen 1a carefully. Then answer the questions on the small blackboard.

(1)Why do most of the buildings have yellow roofs?

(2)What are those animals that are carved on the stones?

(3)Is the dragon a symbol of the Chinese nation?

Listen to the tape again and then check the answers .

2. Read 1a and find out something that Ss don’t understand. Then discuss the difficulties in groups. If necessary, give Ss some help.

Step 3 Consolidation (时间:12分钟)

1.Let’s act out the dialog.

2. Practice the dialog in groups of three. And then ask two groups to act it out in front of the class.

3. Finish 1b. Then work in groups of five and discuss something related to dragons. Then choose one student of each group to report it to the class.

Step 4 Practice (时间:10分钟)

1.Watch a video about the Forbidden City. Pay attention to the buildings in it. After that, ask some questions.

1) Are the buildings grand?

2)Have you ever been there before, S?

2.Read the first 3 questions in 2b. Listen to the tape twice and try to find the answers to them.

3. Listen to the tape again and read after it. Try to find out something that Ss don’t understand. Then discuss them with partner.

4.Practice the conversations

Step 5 Project (时间:5分钟)

Homework:

(1)Collect some sayings, songs and stories related to dragons.

(2)Write a passage about something special in your hometown.
